It shouldn't surprise anyone that people get confused about what my daughter's name is. However, what might suprise you is that the most common mistake seems to be hearing me say that her name is Maria. Come on, people! Seriously? The two don't even sound close!

Okay, now that's really strange!
FWIW, Olive is always mistaken for Alice, Graeme for Grant, and Heidi for Katie. That fact that it's so consistant makes me wonder if I have some sort of speech impediment I don't know about.
Yes! Exactly! I begin to wonder if I pronounce my L's like M's. I understand my standard worry about pronouncing R's like W's, but sometimes it gets me quite paranoid about some hidden speech impediment. If it happened only once or twice, fine... but it happens so often that unless I'm going to see the person again in the future, I just let them think her name is Maria. Weird.
Lol. People regularly think my name is "Dolly" "Molly" or "Polly" -- I must just pronounce my H's all wrong. ugh.
I don't know how anyone can POSSIBLY think "Lorielle" sounds like "Maria"!
I have always been annoyed with my common name but I guess that's the advantage to it. No one thinks my name is Kennifer, Tennifer or Bennifer. Oh, wait... there is one of those, right? lol.
