My new "Family" jar

LOOK! LOOK! I will never claim to have a picture perfect home (did you notice that the place mats aren't perfectly flat, and I think one or two might even be bleached), but I love my dining room. It's the jar that does it for me.

We have a game of topics of conversation for the dinner table. It basically has a bunch of cards, each with a question on it. The girls LOVE to answer the questions! I think it makes them feel mature to know that we ask them such grown-up deep thinking questions. Anyway, we've grown a little tired of the set of questions the game has to offer, so when I found this idea online, I jumped at it!

No doubt we're in for some good conversations! Parenthood is fun.

Another Date Weekend?!?

Two weekends in a row? What?? OK, so the system isn't perfect, but at least we make it happen every month!

Date Weekend

Without a doubt, still our most cherished family moments...
And yes, her dress is inside-out. Something told her it was a good idea. Sometimes you just go with the flow.

Best Day EVER!!!

For Ellie's birthday, I let her play hookie. I took her to the toy store to pick out her gifts. Then we went to the bookstore to pick out new stories. Afterwards, we picked up Daddy from his office and had lunch with him and stopped by the cupcake bakery for dessert. In the afternoon we went to Crackpots and painted some pottery. For dinner, she got to pick the restaurant. When she went to bed, she collapsed and and exclaimed "BEST. DAY. EVER!!!"

It's hard to believe that this little peanut is now 8 years old!

Ellie's birthday party

ELLIE: Mommy, can I tell you something?
MOMMY: Sure, what's up?
ELLIE: People keep asking me what I want for my birthday but I don't really know.
MOMMY: Oh?
ELLIE: Yeah. I don't know what I want for my birthday because I already have everything I want.
MOMMY: Wow. That's very mature! In fact, that's more mature than many grown-ups!
ELLIE: Really?

Ellie decided that for her birthday she wanted to have a party at her best friend, Brynn's, house. Alas we scheduled the party over spring break and it was a bit of a flop when no one showed. Did that put Ellie down? Heck no! She had a blast spending the entire day with her bestest of best friends!  She even wrote a thank you letter to tell her friend that she had the best birthday party ever!

These girls are getting so big!!!

ADDIE: You?
ELLIE: No I already guessed U. Daddy what is it?
ADDIE: You?
ELLIE: i told you.  I already guessed U.
The answer?
You are a goose.
