Happy Easter (late, as always)

My style of blogging doesn't lend itself very well to posting holiday posts on time. My plan was to have this post ready yesterday but instead I'll do two today. Oh well. Most of the time, I dutifully give you a daily post so I'm sure you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.

This year we participated in the Easter Egg Hunt that daycare put on. It was less of a "hunt" and more of a "leisurely grabbing" as you can see by this picture.

One of Ellie's friend's, Lauren, ran into the room and discovered a package of smarties. After deciding that they were indeed a tasty candy, she ran around the room picking up the pencils. Then she asked her Mom if she could have more now, to which her Mom informed her that they weren't candy. Lauren, did not believe her Mom and took a pencil out of her bag and gave it a nice big bite. Following the horrible disgusted look on her face, she reached into the bag and pulled out all her pencils and threw them back into the room.

Ellie's best friend, Brynn, decided she didn't care if the pencils weren't candy. They were pretty darn cool. She had no competition and managed to collect all the pencils while the other kids were so foolishly collecting eggs filled with candy. Afterwards, she asked her parents "What now?" and they told her that she should hurry to get some eggs for her basket. She ran all the way across to the far end of the room (you can actually barely see her in the corner of the above picture), tripping over a mine-field of eggs, picked up the furthest egg and turned back to maneuver through the mine-field to put the egg into her basket. Repeat over and over again, one egg at a time, from the far ends of the Earth. She knew those ones had the best candy.

Ellie, on the other hand, had perfected a technique of her own. She sat in the nearest corner, surrounded by eggs and started to pile them into her basket. When her basket was full, she dumped it into her bag and returned to fill it again. It didn't take long for her to fill her bag and then she wondered what she should do next. We suggested she help Brynn. I'm sure Brynn's parents will thank me some day.

Addie even mastered some of the eggs in her own dominating way.

And here's Ellie with her heavy bag of eggs. She made it a point to make sure we all knew just how heavy it was and how she got lots and lots and lots of candy.

We were all very happy for her and tried to not think about the sugar-induced breakdowns that were sure to come.

Easter morning we went over to Nana's to have a REAL Easter Egg Hunt. I'll let you go ahead and watch the video and decide for yourselves how successful it was. Maybe Ellie was spoiled by the ease of the previous hunt?

And last, but certainly not least, we were visited by the Easter Bear! Don't know what an Easter Bear is? It's much like the Thanksgiving Bear that visited us in 2007, only chubbier and 6 months delayed.
